Orange County Public Libraries

A joyful campaign to attract new Hispanic patrons to the OC Public Libraries, where a resounding ¡OHSÍ! answers all their questions about the possibilities available in a library.

Challenge

The Challenge

OC Public Libraries received a grant to develop a creative marketing campaign to attract more diverse members of the community to use the libraries’ services. And from this, the ¡OH SÍ! campaign was born. Using a common phrase known to both English and Spanish speakers, ¡OH SÍ! Also plays on the name of the county – OC. Low awareness of the libraries robust programming posed the biggest challenge.

The Solution

Using AI enhanced illustrations, the artists developed fun and fanciful images to transport viewers into new and exciting places – places they could travel through books and at the libraries. The construct of the campaign was to ask a question, followed by the answer ¡OH SÍ! The advertising geotarget Hispanic households near libraries where free lunch was served during the summer – a further enticement to come visit. Success was measured by the spike in summer visitors to the library and steep increase in the number of library cards issued during the four month campaign.
