Challenge
The Challenge
CalOptima Health is Orange County’s public health care coverage for low-income children, adults, seniors and people with disabilities. The organization insures more than 935,000
residents of Orange County. On the research front, new leadership wanted to understand how CalOptima Health was perceived in the community and ramp up awareness of the costeffective and innovative approaches the agency was taking to care for the most in-need members of the community. By ensuring that the neediest members of the community receive quality health care, CalOptima Health performs a crucial service that benefits every resident of Orange County, by
addressing homelessness, food insecurity, mental health and ongoing care for the most vulnerable residents.


The Solution
Westbound provided communications support for more than eight years, with a focus on media relations and content development,along with digital advertising, while providing
message development and media relations training services for senior executives and board members. Proactive media relations included features in local, regional, and trade outlets,
including Orange County Register, OC Register Family, KLAA AM830, KPCC-FM, KABC-TV, NBC Channel 4, Univision, Health Fax, and many others.
